18+ Responsibility Trustee Position
Description
We are looking for more than 1 additional Trustee to join Broadstairs Town Team.
We are looking for help so we can continue with our work in, for and with our community, to help us plan and develop the long-term sustainability of our aims, goals and for our multiple beneficiaries.
All to help us :
Ensure that Broadstairs Town Team (BTT) achieves its objectives as set out in its Articles of Association document (AOA).
Trustees must ensure that there is a defined strategy in place and that all assets and resources are only used for the charitable purposes outlined in the AOA.
Trustees have individual and collective responsibility to work together in the best interests of BTT its aims, goals and its beneficiaries.
What rewards come with volunteering, and how does it create meaningful change?
Being a trustee with Broadstairs Town Team isn’t about sitting in stiff meetings or wading through paperwork for the sake of it. It’s about being part of something local, positive and genuinely meaningful — and doing it alongside a group of people who care deeply about Broadstairs, Thanet and each other.
You’ll be joining a small, close-knit, welcoming team that feels more like a family than a boardroom, while still being rigorous, responsible and professional in how we’re governed.
We’re friendly, open and supportive — but we take our responsibilities seriously and do things properly.
What you’ll get out of it
- Real impact, close to home
- You’ll help shape projects and decisions that make Broadstairs a better place to live, work and visit. This is change you can see, feel and be proud of — not abstract outcomes, but real improvements in the community.
- A voice that matters
- Trustees play an active role in guiding the direction of the organisation. Your ideas, experience and perspective genuinely count, and you’ll be part of thoughtful, constructive discussions that lead to action.
- A supportive, approachable team
- We’re down-to-earth, kind and collaborative. No egos, no jargon for the sake of it. New trustees are welcomed, supported and encouraged to ask questions — while being trusted to step up and contribute.
- Personal and professional growth
- You’ll gain hands-on experience in charity governance, decision-making, strategy and accountability. It’s a great opportunity to build confidence, develop new skills and strengthen existing ones — all in a real-world setting.
- Purpose and satisfaction
- There’s something deeply rewarding about giving your time and knowing it’s making a difference. Trustees often tell us they get as much out of the role as they put in. We have been awarded many accolades and awards for the work we do – ‘ Pride in Place’ come up often. That’s not why we do what we do, but it’s nice to be recognised!
Making meaningful change happen
Good intentions aren’t enough on their own — and that’s where our trustees come in. By combining a warm, community-led approach with strong governance, clear decision-making and proper oversight, we make sure great ideas actually turn into lasting change.
As a trustee, you’ll help ensure Broadstairs Town Team remains transparent, sustainable and effective — so we can keep supporting the town we love, now and into the future.
If you care about Broadstairs, enjoy working with people, and want to be part of a friendly but focused team that gets things done properly, we’d love to hear from you.
