Description
Would you like to help contribute to our community project’s income while nurturing life from seed to sale? Join us in the gardens and get hands-on with seed sowing, potting on, watering, labelling, and caring for plants, as well as helping run our plant stall.
This is a wonderful role for anyone who loves watching things grow, sharing plants with the community, and seeing the direct impact of their care. Your efforts will not only help our gardens flourish but also support the wider work of the project.
Volunteers are so important to the work of the Windmill Community Gardens Margate and form a large part of the onsite team.
Our volunteers bring skills, knowledge and energy to make Windmill Community Gardens Margate a brilliant place to visit, as well as working towards enhancing our natural environment.
What rewards come with volunteering, and how does it create meaningful change?
Whether you’re looking to gain experience in habitat surveys, you would like to get involved with food growing and conservation, or you’d like to help maintain the gardens for our visitors, we’d love to hear from you.
Most important of all this group is a social space – somewhere to meet neighbours, learn new skills and make a positive impact on the community and environment.
Volunteering at the Gardens is a great way to build confidence and move towards employment too.
“I enjoy gardening but have no outdoor space in my current flat, and am not very knowledgeable. I love volunteering and the wonderful people you meet who you wouldn’t encounter otherwise.”
